Frankfurt, a central German town on the Main river, is a major financial center with the European Central Bank as its home. This is the birthplace of the prolific writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, now the Goethe House Museum, whose former home. Like much of the city during World War II, it was destroyed and later rebuilt. The restored Altstadt (Old Town) is the Romberg site.
